As I began attending Campus Life in the middle of the semester, I realized that probably the only reason I was there was to get out of my own home.
I wasn’t really present or focused on the lesson and didn’t want to participate in any activities or games.
Still, I continued to go because it was a nice distraction from what was happening at home.
One evening, I couldn’t take the fighting between my parents anymore. It had gotten so bad that I wanted to be anywhere else but the four walls of my bedroom.
I picked up my phone and dialed a Campus Life adult leader’s number that was given to me.
I explained the situation, packed a bag, and headed over to stay with them indefinitely.
After a few months, I went on a trip with Campus Life to Fort Wayne; I found myself, for the first time, in a long time, letting my guard down and genuinely smiling.
